The COEX Hatchuping popup — officially “The Teenieping Cinema Edition” — held at Millennium Plaza inside Starfield COEX Mall. It ran from July 31 to September 5, 2026, to celebrate the release of the movie Love of Hatchuping: Legend of the Whale Jewel. Free admission, stroller-friendly. We went on a weekday (August 26) and the place was nearly empty — no lines at the photo zones, walked right up and took pictures. There were about 490 merchandise items, but honestly the quality didn’t justify the prices. Didn’t buy a single thing. Total time spent: 15 minutes. Perfect as a quick stop if you’re already at COEX for something else.
Where is the COEX Hatchuping popup?
Millennium Plaza inside Starfield COEX Mall. Take Exit 6 from Samseong Station and you’re directly connected to the B1 level. It’s right in front of the McDonald’s COEX branch.
| Detail | Info |
|---|---|
| Official Name | The Teenieping Cinema Edition |
| Location | Starfield COEX Mall, Millennium Plaza (B1) |
| Dates | Jul 31 (Thu) – Sep 5 (Fri), 2026 |
| Hours | 10:30 – 22:00 |
| Admission | Free |
| Reservation | Not required (walk-in) |
| Strollers | Allowed |

Once you enter the COEX Mall from Samseong Station, Millennium Plaza is the wide-open central space — the popup booths were spread across the entire area.
How big is the COEX Hatchuping popup?
Honestly, it’s small. Compared to the “Teenieping Grand Summer Festa” at Cinepark on the 7th floor of Lotte World Tower, it’s noticeably smaller.
| Comparison | COEX Mall Popup | Lotte World Tower Popup |
|---|---|---|
| Location | Millennium Plaza (B1) | 7F Cinepark |
| Dates | 7/31–9/5 | 7/17–8/30 |
| Hours | 10:30–22:00 | 10:00–22:00 |
| Admission | Free | Free |
| Size | Small | Bigger |
| Merchandise | ~490 items | Exclusive 25cm plush pre-sale |
| Perks | Opening weekend only | ₩30K+ crown jelly, ₩50K+ candy, ₩100K+ ready bag ₩5K |
The Lotte World Tower one had a dedicated space with wider pathways and more photo zones. The COEX version feels like vendor booths set up in the middle of a mall corridor. In a word: a merchandise stand.
What’s at the photo zones?
Ocean theme — blue coral reefs, jellyfish, and Teenieping characters:
- Main photo zone — large Hatchuping figure
- Mini photo zones — summer vibes, scattered around
- Weekends/holidays: character appears 4 times daily for photos

No character event on weekdays. But no crowds either — we had the photo zones to ourselves. Our kids aren’t into Hatchuping, so their reaction was lukewarm.
What merchandise was there? Worth buying?
About 490 items. Sounds impressive, actual products are disappointing.
- 8 new movie-release items
- Custom figures “My Ping”
- Existing Teenieping products
| Product | Price |
|---|---|
| Tumbler | ₩14,300 |
| Slippers | ₩5,900 |
| Heart accessory | ₩11,000 |
| Travel set | ₩14,900 |
| Small accessories | ₩2,900–8,900 |

Honest take: Looked cheap but priced high. Same quality as regular store Teenieping toys, higher price. Wallet stayed shut.

Weekday vs. weekend?
Weekday.
| Factor | Weekday | Weekend/Holiday |
|---|---|---|
| Lines | Almost none | Likely crowded |
| Photo zones | Walk right up | May wait |
| Character | No | 4 times daily |
| Sing-along | No | Saturdays only |
Weekend for character meet. Weekday for relaxed visit.
Can you bring a stroller?
Yes. Millennium Plaza is spacious. Elevators nearby. COEX Mall is reasonably stroller-accessible.
Things only we noticed
- 490 items, but few worth choosing. Same character different colors, repackaged existing products.
- Quality doesn’t match the price. Same as store toys with popup markup.
- Weekdays feel private. Best for photos. Try weekday mornings.
- Lotte World Tower popup is much bigger. COEX = stand, Lotte = exhibition.
- 3-minute walk from Samseong Station Exit 6.
The uncomfortable truth
Too small to call a “popup store.” A merchandise stand in the COEX Mall corridor for the movie release. Not worth a special trip — fine as a side stop.
How to get there
- Subway: Line 2, Samseong Station Exit 6 → COEX Mall → Millennium Plaza (3 min)
- Parking: COEX garage (first 30 min free, then ₩1,000/10 min. 2 hrs free with ₩30,000+ buy)
