Is there anywhere to take kids for dinner at Oakvalley?

Forest Terrace BBQ, on the 1st floor of Hills Village at Oakvalley, is a restaurant where you grill meat on an outdoor terrace. It serves breakfast in the morning and meat dishes in the evening. The golf course lawn stretches out right in front, so the view is great the whole meal through. Three families — 12 people total, 6 kids and 6 adults — ordered the assorted platter and draft beer and the bill came to the mid-300,000-won range. It was more satisfying than I expected for a resort restaurant.

What’s the outdoor terrace like?

There’s an outdoor terrace with shade tents and string lights. From the terrace, you can see the golf course lawn and mountains right in front of you. Most guests prefer the outdoor terrace, so there’s usually a line to get in. If you don’t arrive early, it’s hard to snag an outdoor spot. If you get seated in a corner, the kids can play off to one side. After eating, they can run around on the lawn out front too, which makes it great for families with kids. One downside: outdoor terrace seats are limited, so the wait can be long. You can eat indoors too, but you lose the view.

How’s the meat and the taste?

We ordered the assorted platter. It’s not just pork belly and pork neck — it includes premium cuts like hangjeongsal (pork jowl) and gabrisal (pork skirt meat). It was great being able to grill and enjoy pork with different textures, and the portion was just right. The draft beer was Cass, and it was tasty. Watching a staff member carry a beer by looked so good we couldn’t resist ordering one. The self-serve bar has lettuce, perilla leaves, onions, and side dishes, so you can eat as much as you want without feeling awkward about it. The wrap vegetables are unlimited, so you only need to order more meat.

How much does it cost?

For 3 families and 12 people (6 kids, 6 adults), the total came to the mid-300,000-won range — roughly 29,000 won per person. At first it seemed pricey, but after eating, the conclusion was that it’s reasonable for this kind of setting. It’s on the cheaper side compared to other barbecue spots inside Oakvalley.

How was it with two kids?

High chairs are available, though the supply isn’t generous, so it’s important to grab one quickly. If you get a corner spot on the outdoor terrace, the kids can play off to one side, and after eating they can run around on the lawn out front — and once they’ve worked up a sweat, grabbing ice cream at the convenience store afterward makes for a nice little routine. Since we were staying in the same building (Hills Village), the commute was short. No need to drive anywhere — just take the elevator down and you’re right at the restaurant.
